Wiggly, giggly, sad, upset, nervous, shy--children within the first five years of their lives are exploring all of the human emotions! However, as adults, it can sometimes be really challenging to navigate a young child's feelings. Parenting is filled with many ups and downs, and we frequently hear from parents that they often struggle with their child's social-emotional development: how to respond to all the big feelings that come within the first five years of life.
In this parent education night styled event, our early childhood education expert, Julia Kallmes, shares her favorite social-emotional techniques she uses in her classroom for her students (ages 33 months to six years old). These techniques, such as the peace chair, the Zones of Regulation, and problem-size identification, can be easily implemented in any home.
