About the event

Wiggly, giggly, sad, upset, nervous, shy--children within the first five years of their lives are exploring all of the human emotions! However, as adults, it can sometimes be really challenging to navigate a young child's feelings. Parenting is filled with many ups and downs, and we frequently hear from parents that they often struggle with their child's social-emotional development: how to respond to all the big feelings that come within the first five years of life.

In this parent education night styled event, our early childhood education expert, Julia Kallmes, shares her favorite social-emotional techniques she uses in her classroom for her students (ages 33 months to six years old). These techniques, such as the peace chair, the Zones of Regulation, and problem-size identification, can be easily implemented in any home. Julia will give context by explaining young children's social-emotional development, including the development of the limbic system. We will also open the floor to parents to share their own social-emotional questions and concerns. Julia enjoys sharing her social-emotional techniques because she loves seeing understood, empowered children and calm, relaxed adults!

Additional Details:

Childcare will be provided by Monarch Montessori School staff for children ages 2 and up. Children who are too young for the childcare option can be brought along to the class.

**Please RSVP before Thursday, November 10th**
